In 2000, Corporación Minera Centauro and the neighboring communities of direct and indirect influence to the Quicay Mine, started a process of mutual teaching, learning and adaptation. As of today, the consolidation of those processes has forged a sustainable relationship based on trust, respect and communication - these are the pillars that have supported for more than a decade, an harmonious coexistence between the company and the community.

Santa Ana de Pacoyán is the local community of direct influence to the Quicay Mine. Before Corporación Minera Centauro’s arrival to Pacoyán, mining was a non-existent activity . Currently, mining is the main economic activity within the community members of Pacoyán. It is throughout more than a decade of doing responsible mining, offering training possibilities and employing local workforce in Quicay, that Pacoyán has consolidated as the main strategic partner of Corporación Minera Centauro.
